We left our home in Abingdon, England, in a rented car with a borrowed two room tent (dubbed the canvas Hilton) loaned to us by Godfrey Stafford, the director of the Rutherford High Energy Laboratory, where I was working at the time. Our tours took us through France, Italy and Switzerland.
